As Senior TV Editor, I’ve spent the sales event separating the good deals from the bad. If you’re shopping at the 75-inch size point, your options are limited, but there’s one 75-inch deal that towers above the rest.
As we noted in our Hisense U65QF review, this set offers one of the brightest pictures for a 75-inch TV in this price range, thanks to the inclusion of Mini-LED backlighting. These extra-small LEDs also allow for tighter contrast control than what’s on offer from ultra-cheap 75-inch TVs with edge-lit panels.
Take it from someone who’s been testing and reviewing TVs for over a decade: If you’re shopping at the 75-inch size point, you definitely want Mini-LEDs instead of edge-lit LEDs. With this much screen to look at, the performance issues associated with lesser LED displays especially impactful. The U65QF’s backlighting isn’t as tightly engineered as that of higher-end Mini-LED TVs, but you’ll be happy to have Mini-LEDs nonetheless.

It’s built around Amazon’s Fire TV smart platform, which comes with a slate of preinstalled streaming apps and plenty more to download later. I’ll be the first to admit that Fire TV hasn’t been my top software choice in the past, but imminent updates to the Fire TV software to improve the user experience could very well have me singing a different tune.
If you’ve got your heart set on a 75-inch TV but you want to keep the price under $700, the U65QF is one of your best options. Even at this price, you shouldn’t settle for a model without Mini-LEDs.
